IELTS Preparation

The RMIT English Worldwide IELTS Preparation program is an intensive 40-hour program for both General and Academic test modules. It is designed for mixed mode delivery comprising 50% online and 50% face to face.

The program integrates:

• Training in specific test taking skills
• Training in linguistic structures specific to IELTS test tasks
• Opportunities to practice IELTS-type tasks
• Practice of test tasks under exam conditions
• Training in reviewing and self-evaluating test performance

For students who are planning to take the IELTS test for academic or other purposes, the IELTS Preparation program is offered at all RMIT English Worldwide centres. It is aimed at students who have an English language level of approximately IELTS band 5 to 6.

The RMIT English Worldwide IELTS Preparation program is also available to English language providers worldwide as fully packaged courseware. A course package for 50 students is priced at $AUD685 and includes:

IELTS Test

Established in 1996, the IELTS Test Centre at RMIT English Worldwide has seen more than 5,000 students undertake the IELTS test. RMIT English Worldwide is now the largest IELTS Test Centre in Victoria and the third largest in Australia.

Most Australian universities and colleges require an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 on any band score. Candidates should be aware that for entry to further study, the required score may vary for particular courses, and different institutions. Candidates should check the requirements with the institution before applying.

The tests are marked at the test centre by trained and monitored examiners, and the results are available within two weeks of the test. The four modules are always taken in the same order: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The complete test takes an approximate 2 hours and 55 minutes.
