Aviation English The RMIT English Worldwide Aviation program consists of two courses:
Aviation English - General, and Aviation English - Technical. The program
is targeted for pilots and air traffic controller’s who are non-native
speakers of English to meet proficiency levels set by the International
Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standard. The program has been specifically
developed for the needs of the aviation industry. Courses are offered
in a combination of face-to-face and computer delivery. Courses are offered
in many countries and may be delivered by expert RMIT English Worldwide
teachers. This course is designed to provide participants with sufficient Aviation English skills to enter the Aviation English - Technical course. The Aviation English - General course develops communication, language and vocabulary skills associated with the aviation industry. To enter this course, participants are required to demonstrate they have achieved an IELTS score of 4.5 or equivalent. The Aviation English - General course is a total of 250 hours, comprising 50% online and 50% classroom based delivery. Aviation English - Technical This course is designed for Pilots and Air Traffic Controllers who require additional training in technical English and Radiotelephony communication. The course focuses on developing technical language and vocabulary such as aircraft systems, navigation and meteorology as well as Radiotelephony communication in routine and non-routine situations. To enter this course, participants are required to successfully complete the Aviation English - General course or demonstrate they have achieved an IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent. The Aviation English - Technical course is a total of 125 hours, comprising 100% online delivery. Industry Experience RMIT English Worldwide is the only accredited site outside China to administer Civil Aviation Authority of China's (CAAC) English test for pilots (Aviation English and Radiotelephony). RMIT English Worldwide also works in collaboration with a number of partners including RMIT Flight Training Centre (Point Cook) to provide pre-departure Aviation English courses for cadets in Chinese Aviation colleges/airlines.
